There’s something magical about the moment a box clicks open or a riddle suddenly makes sense. Escape games spark teamwork, creativity, and curiosity, and when paired with educational goals, they become powerful tools for learning through play.

In May 2025 we organized in Estonia the international training course “EduEsc: Educational Escape Boxes in Youth Work” The project brought together 30 youth workers from across Europe to experiment with escape game mechanics and design original educational escape boxes exploring various learning topics such as use of AI, cyberbullying, community building or media literacy.

This booklet gathers a selection of prototypes created during the training, including their learning goals, gameplay flow, materials, and facilitation steps. Note: these are prototypes, not finished products! We encourage you to get inspired by their stories and concepts, and to tweak, remix, and reimagine them in your own unique way.

EduEsc: Educational Escape Boxes in Youth Work” was a project coordinated by Shokkin Group Estonia, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme and implemented with the support of the Estonian National Agency.
